Grooms ? What Can You Do To Plan Your Wedding

Having bought the engagement ring, proposed and announced to everyone about your coming wedding, many grooms would prefer to step back from the wedding planning process and just show up on the wedding day..

You are probably thinking that it is better to leave your bride-to-be to make all the plans as you believed that the wedding day is most important day of her life. She has been dreaming of this day since she was a girl and she will want all her wedding fantasies to come true. You believed it would be a big mistake to interfere or attempt to guess your bride of what she has been dreaming about her wedding all her life. Times have changed and the modern brides want their day to be about both of them. Your bride-to-be would like you to be involved. Wedding planning can be a stressful process, but by sharing the burden and the stress, both of you can also have fun along the way.

Wedding planning is not all about wedding cakes, wedding accessories and frilly bridal gowns, wedding decorations ideas - themes and colours. Organizing a wedding is similar to organizing a huge party or a formal social function. It involves venue, food, wine, transport, events timeline, speeches, MC, fun and more…. So, you see there are plenty of tasks you can get involved. Sharing the burden of the wedding planning workload with your bride-to-be can be fun and satisfying. The best of all is that on the wedding day you can say that you have helped bring your perfect wedding day together for sharing with all your family and friends.

Volunteer for some of these wedding-planning tasks. You will enjoy it.

Food

Choose the menu for your big day.

Be the chief taster. Your bride-to-be will gladly offer this task to you, as nothing will tempt her to risk adding an extra inch to her waistline that will stop her from getting into her perfect bridal wedding gown. Sample all the food, hors d’oeuvres, main course and deserts offered by the various restaurants and reception venues.

Wine

Choose the beverage list for your big day.

Be the chief wine taster. You’ve got a lot of time to sample the many wines out there and select the ones that will complement your chosen menu. Don’t forget the beer.

Transport

Indulge yourself by taking a ride on the different of type of vehicles that may be suitable for your wedding day. Take a ride on a horse drawn carriage, a vintage car, a stretched limousine, a stretched hummer, maybe a tram, a boat, or something else that draws on your imagination. You will need a suitable fleet of vehicles to transport your bride and her dress. Not to forget the bridal party, groomsmen and your parents will also need transport to and from the wedding ceremony and the reception. Although your bride-to-be needs to agree to your decision on the choice of the bridal vehicle, there is nothing to stop you from enjoying the rides.

Speeches

Choose your MC and Best Man for the speeches.

Decide on who speaks and for how long are all important decisions that need to be made.. It will also give you greater control of what is said.

When choosing an MC, make sure he is a good orator. Some reception offered a MC as part of the reception package. Have a long conversation with him and decide if he is the right man for the job.

Ideally, your Best Man is a good public speaker, good sense of humour, can tell a good story about you but know where to draw a line. However if your Best Man is not a good public speaker, instead of him boring your guests, save him and yourself by asking him to propose a toast.

And if you don’t like speaking yourself, short is always best. The most important message is to acknowledge your parents and show your gratitude to your guests for sharing your big day with you and your bride and finally to tell your bride how much you love her.

Honeymoon

Organize your honeymoon

Once you have agreed on a destination, you can start to plan your honeymoon. You can research on-line on all the honeymoon packages on offer, but needless to say there will be a price premium for the special treatment you are going to receive from the hotels or holiday resorts. If you are on a budget, you can plan your own honeymoon. Start by searching for the best deals for your destination, air fares, hire car, accommodation, excursion, romantic dinners and the like. On arrival at the hotel and if you mention that you are on a honeymoon, more than likely you will receive a bottle of champagne. The same special treatment if you had booked your honeymoon package from a travel agency.
