Reusable Bags - Bags For Life

Many people think that getting a biodegradable bags is a silly idea when they can just get a free plastic bag. And even though we are culturally starting to become more aware of our actions the unfortunate truth of the matter is that a plastic bag does kill and has killed many creatures of the wild. It has been reported that 500,000,000,000, yes five hundred billion, plastic bags are used each year, which roughly equates to 1 million bags used every sixty seconds. So why should you get yourself a bag for life?

Well the most obvious reason to choose to use a bag for life is that in the long run it works out cheaper, statistics show that each person uses around 302 bags a year. Furthermore, most UK/US shops are now charging for the use of plastic bags. This may not seem like a lot at the moment but the government is attempting to make legislation to increase the amount to double.

A second reason to use biodegradable bags is for the durability it gives. The biodegradable bags have been manufactured in a way that allows for a high weight to be carried with the maximum amount of durability. What this basically means is that a bag for life is more durable than a plastic one, meaning that it is less likely to break on you or to split at the bottom pouring your goods onto the floor.

A third reason, although maybe not as persuasive as the previous ones is that it does actually make a good fashion accessory item. With the recent push for the sale and use of reusable bags. Many people have chosen to build companies that aim to manufacture fair products based on renewable materials that people will want to carry. So now you can buy fairly fashionable biodegradable bags that can be both nice looking and make a statement. One of my favourite bags said: “Get a haircut, you look ridiculous - no offence”.

The statistics of bag use (as first mentioned) may not seem like anything to change your life about, but due to this amount of plastic bag production an average of 100,000 recorded animal deaths have been noted. This means that for every 5million bags used one animal dies, the time to change the way we think is now. The longer we wait the more animals will die and the less likely it will be that our future children will see some of the animals we were once blessed to. So do your part now and buy a bag for life.
