Creating Unique Wedding Favors

Finding wedding favors can be a headache at the best of times and that’s without trying to find unique ones! By their very definition unique wedding favors would be something that your guests haven’t received before and will not receive again. So unless you are going to hire someone to make you one of a kind favors which will never be repeated, your mission is likely to be a fruitless one!

But there are ways you can make the favors you do buy that little bit special with some unique finishing touches. Here are some suggestions:

Personalization: This is quite an obvious one because when you think about it your guests are unlikely to attend another wedding where the bride and groom have the same names and wedding date as yourselves!

Personalized wedding favors are available from most favor stores and there is a big choice of things that can be personalized. Personalization ranges from simply adding your names to printing a photograph of yourselves onto the item. But be careful, personalization may only cost a few extra cents per item but if you are buying a lot of favors then this could add up to a budget busting total!

Personalized ribbon is possibly the most cost effective way of adding your names to your wedding favors and it makes a pretty keepsake which your guests may want to stick into a photograph album with pictures from your wedding day.

Packaging: This is another element of your favors which can make them unique. Traditional favor wrappings consist of small card boxes, tulle nets or voile bags. Think creatively and come up with something different to package your favors in. Small tins are great for things like seeds, candies and small chocolates, they are also reusable long after the favor itself has gone.

Make your own fabric bags for things like candles or soaps or search the internet for a free template which you can download and print, to make your own boxes/packets/envelopes.

DIY: Finding a favor that your guests have never received before or are never likely to receive can be an impossible task. But if you are the creative kind then you could make your own favors. Things like cookies, scented sachets or CD’s are all easy to do and make very special favors because you have made them yourself.

What it comes down to is not finding a unique wedding favor but making one unique through the way you package and present it. Whether you buy ready made or make your own, your favors will need to coordinate with your wedding theme, style and colors which in itself can make them unique. Another way your favors become unique is by incorporating a little of your own personality, style and/or taste into them. To know if you have achieved this ask yourself not if your guests will be pleased with them, but if you would be.
