Where to Stay? Unique Accommodation!

When you normally sit down to plan your holiday, do you ever wonder what else is available for accommodation? Sure, the beach cabin is fantastic, the service and convenience at the hotel is second to none, and you may not get closer to nature without camping. But wouldn’t it be neat to do something just a little bit different these holidays? This thought occurred to me while researching my next trip, and I stumbled across a few ‘unique’ holiday ideas currently available.

Here are some of the more unusual accommodation options that you might like to try:

Australia: Byron Bay Lighthouse: Spend a night or two in the most easterly point in Australia, in the lighthouse that was built in 1901. Be woken by brilliant sunrises, watch the passing parade of dolphins and whales, and watch the sun disappear at dusk into Mt Warning.

Canada: Stay in a spherical tree house in Qualicum, British Columbia. Experience the west coast rainforest of Vancouver Island and overnight in a 9’ diameter sphere made of yellow cedar and are perched high amongst the trees. Check out www.freespiritspheres.com.

Italy: Travelling with a few friends? One house just not quite enough? Why not hire a small village? Seriously! Switzerland: The Gstaad Igloo Village is built 1550 meters above sea level on the Egglie Mtn near Gstaad. This unique village is open from Christmas day to the beginning of April each year, where you can enjoy fantastic skiing during the day, enjoy the magnificent and unique ice sculptures in the village then spend a night or two in an authentic, yet cosy igloo.
