The Convenience of Airport Hotels
For almost as long as there has been commercial passenger air travel there have been airport hotels. Used by a variety of passengers and non-travellers for a multitude of reasons, even in these uncertain economic times, there will always be constant demand for bedrooms situated conveniently close to the arrivals and departure lounges.
Indeed, an examination of the average guest list on any given day at any airport hotel - for example, those that surround the major UK airports - will show a diverse range of people have checked in. This may include air-crew, conference delegates, travellers in transit and many others; all there because of the convenience of being able to stay close to the airport.
The most obvious guests are air crews on long haul destination flights. Far away from home they will need rest before taking the next flight on their work rota. Next, there will be a fair amount of travellers who are in transit to another location but need an overnight stay before taking their next flight. No doubt some will be businessmen keen to make the best use of their time by utilising the extensive office facilities available at many of the premier hotels at airports; others may be leisure travellers. But both will undoubtedly be looking to eat and drink in the hotel’s bars and restaurants before moving on.
Other overnight guests may include sports teams, or other interest-related groups that are competing or travelling abroad and need to assemble the night before.
What’s more, not only can all the stress be taken out of an early morning start and journey to the airport, but many airport hotels also offer free or discounted car parking for the duration of a holiday, which means that the accommodation almost pays for itself as expensive on-airport car parking fees can be avoided.
But, it is not just air travellers or associated workers that use airport hotels. For example, people driving some distance to pick up relatives or friends at the airport may choose to stay overnight in order to be fresh for the journey back home - and also be in good spirits to meet their loved ones. In addition, airport hotels also tend to offer extensive meeting and seminar rooms, which are ideal for local businesses, as well as those who have delegates coming from a number of different destinations for training events, for example.
But, whatever the reason for staying at airport hotels, it is good to know that there is such an option available should it be required.
